Luxury Natural Decor: A Handmade ChristmasWe believe that Christmas should be a time for connection, creativity, and celebrating the beauty of nature. We embraced these values wholeheartedly when it came to planning this years’ festive decor in our newly opened Sussex Showroom. Adorned in the most magical, all-natural holiday décor, the creative team took delight in foraging for foliage and sourcing wool to create delightful little handmade wool tassels – our choice for the tree this year. Every detail reflects the charm of a thoughtfully curated, cosy Christmas, using only natural materials.Foraged Foliage, Bringing the Outside In Every day starts with nature at Maker&Son, and it’s no different at Christmas. Our decorations feature an abundance of traditional spruce (lovingly repurposed from an enormous local tree that had recently been felled), alongside lush ivy and fragrant bay leaves sourced from Holmsted Farm— the location of our beautiful new home in the Sussex countryside. These elements fill the showroom with their fresh, woody fragrance and provide the perfect foundation for festive garlands and displays. The greenery drapes elegantly over our mantelpiece, welcome desk, and front entrance, offering a timeless and sustainable way to celebrate the season. Handmade Woollen Tassels & Timeless Baubles Our tree is a testament to the cosy, tactile warmth that defines our style. Chunky wool tassels, handmade by our creative team, bring a sense of homeliness and comfort, while vintage glass baubles add a touch of nostalgic charm. Real pears nestled among the branches add an unexpected twist embodying nature’s beauty in its simplest form. These decorations not only complement our serene aesthetic, but also inspire visitors to reimagine their own Christmas décor with thoughtful, personal touches sourced from nature. A Collaborative Celebration The magic of this holiday transformation wouldn’t have been possible without our talented team. Together, we immersed ourselves in the joy of creating, sharing ideas, and showcasing our collective passion for natural design and bringing the outdoors in. Create Your Own Natural Christmas Decorating with natural, foraged materials is a wonderful way to bring sustainability and creativity into your home this Christmas. Here are a few tips from our team: Use what’s around you: Forage locally for seasonal plants and flowers – ivy, holly, fir branches, and pinecones. Get crafty: Create tassels, garlands, or wreaths using natural fibres such as wool, twine, or raffia. Add edible elements: Pears, apples, or even cinnamon sticks make wonderful decorations and can double as delicious treats!Embrace imperfection: The beauty of natural materials lies in their unique textures and shapes, don’t fret if your hand-made decorations are varied in size and shape, it all adds to their unique charm.Watch our Decorating for Christmas reel on Instagram to see more.
